Vernal Express 1910

Ira D. Lyman certainly has had bad luck, if that is the right name for it.  A few days ago while crossing the ice near Ouray, the ice broke, letting his entire outfit through.  He was hauling lumber to the new smelting plant near Ouray, with two teams and wagons, and all four horses were drowned and the harness, lumber and wagons are at the bottom of the river.  Tom Taylor was also hauling lumber and crossed just ahead of Lyman.  Last winter Lyman's house burned down on his homestead near Randlett, and he also lost some horses and a cow.  Vernal Express Friday January 7, 1910
